C.BIO: good, Italian honest food in Florence

We love our guests so much, and you know, that we love to pamper you, to take care of you, and we always try to give you good advice on where to go and what to do when you arrive in Florence. That’s why today I’ll bring you at C.BIO, a place recently opened, where your eyes, your soul and your taste buds will find their joy!

It’s not a butcher shop or a bakery, it’s not a deli, C.BIO is all this things together and much more, and never forgets a fundamental principle: sustainability. Born from the passion, knowledge and talent of his patron, Chef Fabio Picchi – an institution in Florence (and beyond) thanks to his art and restaurants (as soon as possible I will present you them) renowned in all the best guides – C.BIO is based on a simple principle: “the food we eat must be healthy and give nourishment to make us happy. It must be produced in the most absolute respect of its nature, with transparent working methods at every stage of production “.

Chef Picchi with his son Giulio and all their efficient crew, opening this “shop” has first given some space to a lot of small farms that, while producing exquisite products, have always remained unknown and difficult to know beyond their territory. But thanks to their new distribution and a previous study of their subjects and working, they are now available to all the citizens of Florence.

C.BIO is a sort of precious jewel where you’ll find everything you need in respect and in organic culture, from food to the care of the person, of animals and the plants from your garden, to which is dedicated the second floor. As soon as you enter this beautiful shop in via Della Mattonaia, just at the corner of Piazza Sant ‘ Ambrogio – since ever Picchi’s family headquarters, and perfectly reachable from Antiche Dimore Fiorentine – you will be enchanted by the essential and warm style, chosen for decorating this biological temple, from products displayed on the shelves, vegetables and fruit, to honeys and jams perfectly arranged on the various displays, from the eggs, to oil, passing through wine and succulent and precious cuts of meat, but also shampoo, masks and hair conditioner you can buy here.

It’s really impossible to resist buns, sandwiches and bread freshly baked, or to the biscuits and cakes, all prepared using special flours and with different origins in the bakery corner, very close to the gastronomy, where you can choose between the delicacies cooked by the holy hands of the Chefs who have always worked at “Cibrèo” and the other restaurants of the Picchi’s group. Spelt Flan and Swiss chard? A special kind of meat cooked “alla Fiorentina” (means in the Florentine way)? Or do you prefer eggplant “ alla parmigiana”? Believe me, you won’t be able to choose what to order from this seasonal menu, linked to the regional tradition and strictly 100 % Bio.
