Located in the heart of the San Marco district, halfway between Piazza S.Marco and Piazza Indipendenza, Trattoria Tiberio has become over time a favorite destination for our customers: being very close to either Antica Dimora Johlea, Antica Dimora Firenze, and Residenza Johanna, it is a suitable option for dinner, even after a demanding day of tourism in Florence.
Of course, the proximity is not its only attraction. As our guests learned to know well, Trattoria Tiberio offers an excellent traditional cuisine: a wide choice of very tasty dishes, according to the rules of the Tuscan tradition. “When we started six years ago – the owner and chef Maurizio Tiberio reports – my goal was to set up a welcoming, family-run business, suitable for everyone. We are in a hotel area, and that helps us work, of course, but our offer is not targeted to tourism. We propose a simple Tuscan cuisine, based on local products and seasonal vegetables. We only use meat selected by our trusty butcher, and we provide vegetables from local producers: artichokes from Empoli, zucchini from Mugello, Florentine tomatoes, and so on.”
The gastronomic tradition that Maurizio Tiberio favours is obviously the Tuscan one: great platters of cold cuts and cheese, tortelli and ravioli, steaks and tagliata. However, the chef does not mind exploring extra-regional cuisines, especially as far as fish dishes are concerned. The dinner menu is very wide, with dozens of appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes and desserts, and prices ranging from 5 euro (desserts and side dishes) to 18 Euros (meat / fish), but at lunch one can take advantage of a reduced menu, at much lower prices. “We created a quick lunch option for people who work – says Maurizio – dishes that are fast to cook but still extremely tasty. Prices range from € 7 for pasta to € 9 for main dishes. The offer includes pastas with vegetables, such as fresh tagliatelle with zucchini, artichoke, chicory, cabbage and beans. Or main dishes such as pork, roast beef, turkey rolle, rabbit cacciatore, cuttlefish. Anyway, the evening menu is always available to customers”.
Trattoria Tiberio’s true pride and strength is the extremely wide selection of wines, suitable to any type of meal: “I offer many Tuscan wines, since tourists are keen to taste them, but I also propose excellent Sicilian and Piedmont wines”, says Maurizio. If all this were not enough, also take into account that from April (at lunch), and June (at dinner) Tiberio even offers the possibility to eat outside, in the pretty courtyard. So, enjoy your meal!
Trattoria Tiberio is located in Via Delle Ruote 26 red, in Florence, a few steps away from our residences. It is open daily for lunch and dinner, except on Sunday.
